It's Here...August 2, 2008 the STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS
ALL MICHIGAN RESIDENTS ARE YOU UP FOR THE CHALLENGE. You are auto-matically entered into the Championships as a part of your entry. Out of state residents cannot compete for the State medals but they still can get all the race accolades of the Wild West 100K or the Grin and Bear It 50K. See the web site ffor more details: www.wildwest100k.4t.com
The Race is Held at Fallasburg Park just North of Lowell
If you are coming from the expressway I-96...get off exit 52 Lowell Exit and turn north, go approx. 7.4 miles to Fallasburg Park Dr. and turn right(its only a right turn)...go another .7 tenths of a mile and turn right onto Covered Bridge Road for .5 of a mile. The start and Finish will be on this road at Picnic area C-3.
This is a trail race and relay race...so come and join the fun.
Relay Teams and Individual Runners must bring there own trail support and must pre-register by July 1st.
All relay members will be split timed so that they can go in for the 25K individual awards. There will be two aid stations...one at the 7 1/2 mile mark in the loop and one at the start and finish area.
What to bring: if you are running the ultra... and plan to be out there after the sun goes down please bring working flash lights, a night reflective vest, more than one pair of running shoes, bug spray, extra bandaids, towell, and a great attitude to have fun!!! Remember...it's not how many times that you fall down that counts...it's the number of times that you get up after you fall that counts!!! Always strive to get up one more time than the number of times that you fall.
Hey this is Michigan: you don't have to worry about any Grizzly Bears, Mountain Lions, or any other "CAN CAUSE YOU BODILY HARM" type of animals in our woods. Please don't give blood the week of the race...if your out in the woods after the sun goes down and stop moving then the local mosquitoes will take enough from you.
One more thought....there has been some out of town people that are coming in from out of town...this is why we call them out of towners... Lowell does not have any hotels... the nearest one is in Grand Rapids called the Country Inn and Suites located on the East Beltline and 1-96 expressway. ***If lodging is a worry for you there are Old Fart Club Members who are willing to serve as hosts at no charge to you so that you can spend the night in either a tent in their yard or on a sleeping bag in their basement and I am sure they will hook you up with a good old fashion spaghetti dinner the night before. I have a pop up camper that people can stay in in my drive way if anyone needs a place to stay. Please Email Coach Droski at coachdroski@aim.com if you are interested.
